Doves Love Birds

Remembering a recent ceremony for our county fallen Vets, I surmised this dove lost its way. I marveled knowing this experience was "once in a life" moment. To our astonishment, the dove repeated her routine daily. Over the roof - into the tree - down to our pond or to our bird baths. As days passed, slowly I ventured closer and saw there no bands on her legs. We lovingly calling her Tammy, after our neighbor who lost her life to cancer. It was her house the dove chose to rest on. Symbolically the beautiful dove would represent all the amazing woman we loved and lost.
As each day passed, I believed Tammy would continue visiting our yard each day but I needed to educate myself on her breed, an appropriate diet and how to house and protect in Colorado's winter. I contacted the White Dove Ceremony organization and spoke with Sandra. Once she examined the photographs, she verified it was a rock dove. She explained the dove could have "flown the coupe" but more than likely lost her internal signal and wandered from a private ceremony. Although she suggested capturing her and keeping her inside, Tammy was not going to have any of that.

Valentines Day Candy

In the United States, St. Valentine's Day is the second largest card giving holiday celebrated. Somewhere in the vicinity of 190 million lover's and friend's greeting cards are sent each year. The holiday is said to come to us from ancient Roman Empire times when a priest who was forbidden to perform marriages for the young strapping, healthy Roman soldiers defied Roman law and performed the marriages anyway. He was eventually caught and imprisoned and executed. Now that's romantic.
Ever since the early 1700's, Americans have been sending expression of friendship, gratitude, and love to those around them. In the early 1800's, Esther A. Howland produced the first commercial Valentine greeting cards. And even though receiving a beautiful card is wonderful, Americans have demonstrated, by their purchases during this winter holiday, that candy is still our sentiment of preference.
Of all of the gifts and love notes exchanged on Valentine's Day the most popular item is candy, and for good reason. Each year on the same day in mid February (the 14th) candy is given to loved ones as a symbol of our love and commitment. There are thousands of candymakers across the country that hit high gear in the early weeks of the year to meet the incredible demands of candy lovers.

Today, we consider your traditional Valentine's Day flowers as roses, gotten from a neighborhood florist or from a national service. However, roses are a fairly recent addition to the options available when you would desire to send flowers to a loved one on February 14th.
Red roses and love
Red roses are generally believed to be the most romantic flowers to be exchanged among those in love. They symbolize love and are considered "traditional" these days. More than any other time of year, red roses will also be easy to get at any local florist, or on the web.
Though it is true that the\the red rose may be considered the "top flower" by many, check with local florists and you would find that in truth, anything goes. What is important is to present your beloved with his or her favorite fresh flowers, just to say, "I love you." Maybe, for instance, tulips are your favorite, or lilies of the valley. Whatever you prefer, do it. When Valentine's Day was initially celebrated, lilies and orchids were common.

Valentines Day on 14th February is famous for flowers and cards. Roses especially are used to say to your Valentine that you love them. Red, as the symbolic colour of the heart is also especially popular. It is a day when couples the world over express their love to each other.
The day was named after Saint Valentine but there is no agreement on who Saint Valentine himself was and there are three popular stories about a man named Valentine
However, the introduction of flowers for Valentines Day is less contentiously said to have started in the 16th century when the Swedish king Charles II introduced the Persian custom of using flowers to express yourself.
Roses are also the favourite flower of the Greek goddess Venus who is known as the goddess of love. The red rose symbolises love and passion. Other red flowers also symbolise love but not in quite the same way as roses do.

Flowers are a universal expression of love and appreciation, and ordering them through an online source can be fast, easy and provide additional benefits.
Online flower delivery sites allow users to pick out the bouquet they are looking for based on price, flower type or special occasion with just a few mouse clicks and from the comfort of the home or office. Online sites are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and often have huge networks of local and international florists allowing for flower delivery to just about anywhere in the world.
Floral arrangements can range from a bundle of cut flowers loosely arranged in a box and delivered by UPS or FedEx to a complete bouquet in a vase delivered by a florist located near the recipient.
When purchasing Valentine's day roses online it is often possible to place the order well in advance of the delivery date. In fact, many online flower sites reward this behavior by offering cheaper prices the more in advance the array is placed or by offering free delivery if flowers for a particular holiday are ordered ahead of a certain date. However, same day delivery is also available.

Roses Valentines Day

Another holiday is upon us, as the commercial industry begins to remind men everywhere that February the 14th is almost here, you need to get out there and buy that gift! I just watched a short skit on TV about a woman venting about the lack of attention her man gives to Valentine's Day, when she was finished, I could understand why her man dreaded the holiday.
Working in an office where you can plainly see the women put their roses on display, seems to be their way to show the other women how much they are loved or they have a man. It would be shameful, in a corporate setting, being a woman and not getting flowers delivered on valentines days. Some women will get upset because they receive a single rose, while their coworkers received a vase and some candy. I find it strange that some women will equate flowers and candy to how much they are loved. If it's the thought that counts, then wouldn't a woman be satisfied with a single rose? Or, how about a stick of gum for that matter (I'm kidding about the gum).

Valentine's Day has come and gone with its usual flourish of red roses and grand gestures. If you're one of the lucky people who received a bunch of beautiful flowers from your loved one you may want to know how your gift can keep on giving.
At Petals, we've had a number of florists over the years help customers and our own staff with keeping their flowers alive and fresh. There are number of things our florists have taught us that you can do to ensure your Valentine's efforts last longer.
First of all, no matter how they were delivered, either by hand, by the florists or by a courier make sure you put your flowers into a clean vase with the wrapping still on and let them drink up the clean water. Next make sure you use cut flower food. The flowers will last longer if you use cut flower food but make sure you the read directions and use the correct amount. If you can't find any flower food or don't have any handy, all you need is a teaspoon of sugar, a teaspoon of vinegar and a teaspoon of bleach dissolved in half a liter of water to help keep your flowers fresh.

Pink, scarlet, red are the main color in this special Day. You could choose these colors for your ceremony, or just like some faddish couples, you could use black and white as the keynote and red or pink as the interspersion.
Special invitation
If your ceremony is not that formal, then you could send Valentine cards as the wedding invitation, so using valentine cards as visitor's book.

Colors are important to determine the main styles, yet different accessories will enhance romance. For example, smooth silk tablecloth matched with candles will surely make the venues homey and sweet.
