Valentines Flowers

Valentine's Day has come and gone with its usual flourish of red roses and grand gestures. If you're one of the lucky people who received a bunch of beautiful flowers from your loved one you may want to know how your gift can keep on giving.
At Petals, we've had a number of florists over the years help customers and our own staff with keeping their flowers alive and fresh. There are number of things our florists have taught us that you can do to ensure your Valentine's efforts last longer.
First of all, no matter how they were delivered, either by hand, by the florists or by a courier make sure you put your flowers into a clean vase with the wrapping still on and let them drink up the clean water. Next make sure you use cut flower food. The flowers will last longer if you use cut flower food but make sure you the read directions and use the correct amount. If you can't find any flower food or don't have any handy, all you need is a teaspoon of sugar, a teaspoon of vinegar and a teaspoon of bleach dissolved in half a liter of water to help keep your flowers fresh.
